'Tis the Season to be SEPHORA Glammin'

The holiday breeze is here.  Festive lights, Christmas songs, numerous sales going on everywhere!

But what makes our holidays special are the year-end parties and reunions!  Of course we don't get to doll-up everyday, and we don't get to wear those amazing dresses, wedges and pumps while strutting down the red carpet on our daily lives.  So, we, ladies, take these events seriously.  We all want to look fab and feel great from time to time.

Most issues we come up with in times like these are what to wear and how to get the look that we want.

Here are some of my ideas, especially for expectant moms like me.

For family gatherings or reunions with friends or batch mates, I'd go to chic but comfy style.

And to get that fresh, youthful glow makeup, Sephora.ph has so many choices, and I picked up the ones that I highly recommend.

Starting off with the primer to minimize pores, Benefit Cosmetic's POREfessional Face Primer Mini is a keeper.

For the foundation, I chose Sleek Makeup's Base Duo Kit that holds crème foundation and semi-translucent finishing powder in one compact kit. It has SPF 15, Vitamin E and jojoba oil to moisturize and repair dry skin.  One of the best feature is that it creates a luminous glow.

To cover up those dark circles, spots or blemishes, I've tried and love Sleek Makeup's Correct and Conceal.  What I love about this is it's a corrector, concealer, and setting powder in a compact.

We don't want a very hard contour on our 'youthful' look, right?  The Balm's The Manizer Sisters would make that perfect glow we want to achieve.  It's a highlighter, shimmer, and bronzer/shadow in one kit!  It definitely suits all skin tones.

And off to our eyebrows.  Sephora Collection's Eyebrow Kit is a must-have!  It has setting brow wax, 2 brow powders, a tweezer, a spoolie brush, and an angle brush.  With these, you can definitely customize your brows.  But we don't want an "Angry Bird" brows, eh?  It would just make your features stronger than softening it.  Youth = soft.  Get it?

For the eyeshadow, I prefer ZOEVA's Naturally Yours Palette that comes in 10 shades.  You can wear it for day makeup and just apply darker shades when you're off to a dinner date.  But for our 'youthful glow' look, I would choose the first four shades of the palette: pure, first love, soft & sexy, and casual elegance (see photo below).

ZOEVA's Naturally Yours Palette.
The first four shades would suit a youthful glow look.

To accentuate our eyes better, Sephora Collection's 24hr Felt Liner- Intense Black eyeliner is the best pick.  It is highly pigmented, long-wearing, smudge-proof, and is quick-drying.  You can easily remove it as well. :)

Pop out your lashes with your eyelash curler and brushing it off with Benefit Cosmetics' Roller Lash Mini.  It is long-wearing and easy to remove.

And the last touch is ZOEVA's Luxe Matte Lipstick in shade Omnipresent to give that nude, fresh look.

--

Now for the "glam look," I have these in mind:

I still prefer the makeup choices I've made for the 'youthful glow' look, but I will be adding more deeper shades on the eyeshadow and lipstick:

As you can see above, I would still use ZOEVA's Naturally Yours Palette (that comes in 10 shades) but choosing the other six deeper shades for more smokey eye effect.  And switching nude matte lipstick with Red Burlesque's Michelle L'amour lipstick for more glamorous and sexier touch.

I personally don't use false eyelashes as I am blessed with long, curly lashes.  So you have the option to put it on for more fuller lashes, like Ardell's Fashion Lash.

Now we're all set for the party/parties!

Due to the holiday rush, I'd rather shop online than deal with long lines and traffic.  And knowing that Sephora PH delivers for free when you exceed Php 1,300 on your total bill!  Isn't that great?  There are so many products to choose from as gifts or for personal use.  You can definitely shop more make-up products on Sephora PH here!

So, what 'look' are you eyeing on for the upcoming holiday events?  Come share it with me on the comments below.  :)

Cool Finds at Zalora

Browsing the internet is my way of killing time, and one of which is visiting online stores here in the Philippines, such as Zalora.com.ph.

What's cool about this site is that they offer free shipping above Php 1,000 worth of purchase, 30 days free return, and offers cash on delivery (on select locations).

I love to navigate through their site because you can select a certain brand, color and price that fits your style and budget.  Of course, men can buy stuff here too!  I love those boat shoes!

And the best part of 'em all is you can purchase your KYCS swimwear here too.  :)  Yes, I'm that loyal to the brand because I love their styles!

A lot of great finds at Zalora where you don't have to get out of the house for busy bees like myself to purchase 'em all.  <3 p="">

Cheap Yet Great Finds at ClothingLoves.net

It's been scorching hot lately here in PI, even if wearing clothes that will reveal too much skin is not my thing, I have no choice but to wear them.  Of course I'm still the typical lady who thinks I ran out of clothes to wear, but if you're going to see how full my closet is, you'll be cursing to the heavens.  LOL.

That's why I browse on sites (whether it be blogs or online shops) that has clothes, accessories and shoes in it.  Need to be updated on the current trend for my job and at the same time purchase some for myself if it fits the budget.  ;)

I'm loving clothingloves.net because they have cheap finds!  Plus, you can also make a business out of it by purchasing items for wholesale, especially those wholesale women's blouses!  FTW!

Below are some of the items I'm eyeing on.  Ooh, so pretty!  :)  Go check their site.

Just for KYCS

I have been getting a lot of short-notice gigs these days in makeup, styling and set design department.  I'm not complaining!  I actually love to keep 'em coming while waiting for something.

Recently, I worked with KYCS, a swimwear, beachwear and casual sportswear line owned and designed by the lovely couple Sarah and Che Katigbak.  I did makeup and a bit of styling for their segment at Unang Hirit that went live last March 21st, then we all went straight for a photoshoot right after.  It was a long day for me too.  Haven't slept the night before due to late night band practice; killed time with my bandmate before heading to High Street at 3:30AM where Che and Sarah picked me up for the live morning show at Splash Island.

KYCS, pronounced as kicks, stands for Kasuotang Yari ni Che at Sarah (Garment made by Che and Sarah).  Cool, huh?  :)

They started out back in November 1994 focusing on casual sportswear until they developed its line and now concentrates on swimwear and beachwear.  What I love most about this line is that they have designs that are very practical, innovative and at the same time fashionable.  I even have their best-selling "Top 10" bikini in black.  You can definitely wear it in so many different ways.  And the best of it all, you can have your swimwear customized!

Styling for PhilStar: Allure

Back in late January, a friend of mine from college sent me and SMS at 11 PM asking if I'm available for the next day's shoot as a stylist.  My day was free and I said yes.  Since there was not enough time to pull out clothing from designers or brands because the shoot starts at 9AM, I brought all my accessories instead.  Caloocan is too far from where I live, and driving to the place was not an option because I'm sure I might get lost.

The taxi driver was a heaven-sent after I hopped off LRT 5th Avenue station.  He did not ask for extra cash even if we had a hard time looking for Ever Bilena's head office.  Bless him. :)

As soon as I arrived, I went through the rack of clothes brought by the models.  There were only few options, and some were not even appropriate for the layout themes.  I wasn't really satisfied with the outcome but that was the best that I could do for what was present.  I tried to make everything simple since the main focus should be the makeup.  :)

Summer in the City

It was just late last year when my college friends and I started hanging out almost every month.  And just two weeks ago (or so, I lost count), we met up at one of the malls in Ayala and headed to SOMS Noodle House  near Rockwell for late lunch.  Supposedly, it was just Liz and I who planned to meet so that we could work together on a project, which is a new blog that focuses on beauty and fashion, but the rest of the group wanted to tag along, so we definitely had a blast.

Then after our good late lunch, we went straight to High Street for this post.  Will be linking Liz's blog once it's up.

For our first OOTD, we dolled up on our summer look in the city.

Here's Liz Andal's OOTD weeks ago :)

And, oh, did you know that my dear friend is a professional makeup artist and a great singer too?  Here's a demo track of her original composition "Nasan Na".  And for the makeup, she did my makeup on this OOTD post.

Of course, I got a shot on this OOTD post too.  :p  Almost all of my stuff are bought from tiangges, sales, thriftshops, or are hand-me-downs and gifts.  I do get some items from known brands, if they are on sale.  Lol.  I'm always on a tight budget.  Priorities! :)  I'm thinking of posting some OOTDs that are practical for everyone, just like this one below.  You can still look amazing without spending too much.  It's in the art of styling.

Personal Shopper Experience

It's good to be back in the blogger zone.  I've just had the most hectic weeks for this year and so I've been behind here on my blog.  So here's a post to make up on my 'tardiness'. :p

--

Back in late October, I was tapped by Erzullie to be one of their personal shoppers.  I was a bit skeptical since it would be my first time dealing with Erzullistas (who are loyal customers of the line) or walk-in clients because I was too worried that I might get misunderstood (because I always am).  But, alas, after showing up on the series of bazaars on the past couple of months, I got great feedback from the beautiful ladies!  Thank you for the wonderful feedback and I'll treasure it forever.  :)  I really had great time dressing up our clients and having seen their facial expressions with pure delight and gratitude was absolutely amazing and fulfilling.  Spreading awesomeness is indeed fulfilling.  Hehe.  :)   See you next year!

Top (L-R):  Erzullista owners/designers Berna and Aries, with one of our beautiful Erzullista, Mau.

Bottom right:  Erzullista Valerie.

Too bad I was too preoccupied with styling and only got a couple of photos with the fierce Erzullistas.  I'm definitely bad with names too!  So if ever I get to bump with you, don't get offended if I don't remember your names.  I do have a photographic memory though.  :)

Thanks, Aries, for the macadamia nut latte by Afters.  My new favorite drink!
We absolutely loved Sophie's Mom's red velvet cupcakes.  :)

Shopping season is in the air and I invite you fierce vixens to drop by Erzullie's booth at the upcoming Super Sale Bazaar at the World Trade Center this December 1-5, 2012.  I'll be there on December 1 and 2 to make sure you get the fabulous apparel that fits your fierceness.  There are lot of booths around from fellow chic bloggers/entrepreneurs that caters to men and women: shoes, trinkets, bags, clothes, you name it!

See you there! :)

Personal Shopper At Your Service

I've been wearing different hats since I-don't-know-when, and will be adding another hat on the list -- personal shopper!

Personal shopper is fairly new here in the Philippines, but it's been going on for years now.  Basically, what a personal shopper does is to give advice, suggestions and tips to customers.  It's more of like a stylist. Think of makeover TV shows.  Get the picture?

It's way different to a saleslady because they focus on sales, while I focus on styling the clients.  Personally, I loathe salesladies in department stores or boutiques because most often than not, when I ask for their opinion, of course, they will always say it looks good on you or they up-sell most of the time.  And the fact that they don't look stylish (insert uniform), kind of give me doubts on their advice. :p

photo grabbed from http://erzullie.blogspot.com

Thankfully, Erzullie Fierce Plus-Size Fashion were looking for personal shoppers for their bazaars and I'm glad to be chosen to be part of the team.  Meeting Berna and Aries personally was a treasure because they really are the kind of people that I like--confident, empowering, fierce, and positive.  They know what they want and they act on it.  Very inspiring!  And the fact that having someone say to you that they like you for who you are and what you do, even having a long list of skills and experiences on my CV doesn't bother them is such a compliment.  I haven't felt that kind of encouragement from an individual who I barely know, because, you know, I still encounter people who questions you for doing so many things, and kept me thinking why does it bother them in the first place.  I don't harm them in any way, so what's the deal with that?  So, Berna and Aries (and a few other creative people who I recently met) are such a blessing.  They remind me to continue on doing my thing and live life.  Thanks for the inspiration, guys! :D

--

Why Erzullie?  I used to be bullied back in grade school because of my weight.  I still have the emotional scars with me and it sometimes bother me to this day.  I lost and gained weight over the years, until I accepted the fact to just love what I have.  It's my body, it's my temple.  If you can't accept my curves, then you're too shallow, dear.

Erzullie and The Plump Pinay are some of the people I look up to (knowing they're way younger than I am, yet they are strong. Kudos, ladies!) and their advocacy is truly inspiring: Beauty is in all shapes and sizes.  You don't have to conform to what the media tells you how to look like.  Just be yourself.  Embrace yourself.  You're beautiful no matter what.  So working with these kind of women is empowering and fulfilling because in very little way as possible, I can also touch one's life and inspire them to be real just by sharing them my ideas and the oomph that they need.  :)

--

I'm beyond excited on taking another role.  Sharing ideas, styling, and giving confidence to others is what I usually do, and this side job is just perfect.  Can't wait to see you, ladies, this coming Saturday, November 10th, 10AM - 10 PM, at Rockwell Tent.  Just look for Erzullie's booth.  The Global Pinoy Bazaar runs only this weekend, November 10th and 11th, though I won't be there on the 11th as I have prior commitment.

Thanks, Erzullie, for featuring me and my fellow personal shopper Bea on your blog! :) <3 div="div">

Let's Go, Esprit!

Last October 29th, Esprit Timewear launched their Fall/Winter collection for 2012.  The event took place at Mall of Asia.  Moi of Cre8tivemedia Production Studio asked me to be his on-cam host for the event.  I wasn't supposed to say yes on the said stint, though I can't back out since I already said yes before knowing what my job was.  I assumed that I would be assisting him on the event, behind the camera, so, how can I say no when I already said yes in the first place.  Should have asked what my role was before conforming.  Lol.

Good thing I have a couple of meetings at Ortigas and Ayala before the event, so there's an excuse for me to get a little dolled up.

I did my own little research about the watches that Esprit's launching the night before.  I don't know anything about watches and its intricacies.  I love watches, don't get me wrong, but I'm not a collector.  I guess I'm such a frugal person.  Haha!  So, anyway, coming up with questions is pretty much hard for me, and my nature is not to ask questions (because I was brought up that way.. it has its downsides, you know), but that doesn't mean I'm not interested.  I'm more of a listener, so, yeah, this was a HUGE challenge for me.  Conversing in English and asking questions are not usual to me, so, yeah, epistaxis (nosebleed) to the max! Haha.  I'd rather write than converse in that language. LOL.  I hope I didn't disappoint.  :p

I was able to interview Ms. Christina Devacais (Esprit Timewear Brand Manager), Mr. Bill Young (Regional Manager of Esprit-Asia Timewear), and bloggers Paul Chuapoco, Vern Enciso, David GuisonPatricia Prieto, and Sarah Tirona.  Thanks to my ever dear friend, Tina, for helping me come up with some other questions than the usual "what's your pick among the latest styles featured on the show?"  :p

Among the Fall/Winter timewear collection, I like Solara the most.  It is solar-powered and lightweight.  :)  Chic!

And the best part of the event, we were given loot bags!  Woot!

I had a blast with the entire experience.  Though I can't see myself hosting such events.  But thanks again, Moi, for trusting me. Haha!

On a side note, it just gave me the idea to come up with my own traveling/cooking show for my blog.  Hmm..  Let's see! :)

Friends at Weddings

My college friends and I attended a couple of weddings (day after the other) last week.  Since this was a first on our group (where one of us got married), we were beyond excited!  We thought of preparing big time for this since we're all the laid-back-kind-of-ladies (you know, the sneakers-slippers-shirt-pants kind of ladies).  Having made up and wear posh clothing is something we rarely do and these events serves as an excuse for us to experience it.  Haha!

I've been practicing make-up artistry for quite some time now and Tin does too on hairstyling department.  So it's a great team up!  We were supposed to go to a bar right after Car's wedding but due to Cherry's wedding the next day, we opted not to.  That was supposed to be our first time going out together at a club/bar.  We never went for that kind of gimmick back in college.  We only watched movies and eat out back then.  Most of the time we're in school, at the library for projects and assignments, at the cafeteria, AVP room, or at the org office.  We're nerds, well, sort of.  :p

I had my mom's car checked before meeting with the girls on Friday morning, which then made us all late and wasn't able to witness the wedding ceremonies at the church.  My bad.  I feel so awful about it.  I really am sorry! :(  Prepping took us a lot of time and the traffic really bites.  So we were 3 hours late and went straight to the reception.  But all was good.  We were happy to see the couple!  They're just so lovely :)

SPArty!

This month gave me the impression that I'm no longer young.  I have attended and will have to attend numerous occasions: from bridal showers, baby showers, weddings to christenings.  All of which are happening in the span of three weeks.  Tell me about financial woes during this time.  LOL

I'm so glad that my friends were taking a huge leap on life and I'm very happy to be part of it.  Just last Saturday, we had a sort of surprise bridal shower for Car.  Sort of surprise because we asked her weeks before if she'll be having a party right before the wedding (stupid us haha) to which she replied that her HS bff were planning a simple get together.  My college friends and I are pretty excited on the party and the wedding itself (which, by the way, will take place this coming Friday).  This is the first time that one of us is getting married, so that hyped us all by preparing what to wear and what 'look' should we sport on the big day.  HAHA!  We're even looking forward on the after-party :)  But I doubt it would happen since Bern and I have yet to attend another wedding the day after.

Going back, I suggested to have a spa party weeks before the shower so that we could all relax and at the same time catch up with everyone.  We're glad that everyone's on the same page, and Marge, the bride's bff, took care of the preparations.

Celebrity Nails was our home service nail salon and body spa for the night.  We were supposed to have the sparty at Car's condo though the function room wasn't available that time, so we opted to surprise her at her family's home.

The spa service provided some snacks: chocolate fondue, marshmallows, cupcakes, wafer sticks, bread sticks, cheese and red wine.

paraffin treatment = mittens on both hands and feet
Now I know how frustrated the babies are.. :p  You can't scratch nor make use of your fingers.

It was my first time to have a paraffin treatment on both hands and feet.  Kind of scared haha!  But it was all good and relaxing.

This is the best bridal shower so far.  We were all pampered and relaxed, especially Car's mom and dad!  Her fiance and guy friend were there too to get a treatment.  Boys are definitely allowed this time.  It was a great time to enjoy with the bride-to-be and friends.  :)

P.S.  I'm not used to having painted nails on my hands.  Let's see if it'll last a day or two.  Lol

Here's a song that I would sincerely wish to sing to the bride and groom on their wedding (aside from the requested "Power of Two").  I love playing this on the guitar.  <3 p="p">

Ipanema Urban Jungle Runway Show

You may have noticed that I have a lot of things on my hands lately.  And just this late March, I've added a new skill on my roster as an assistant on set design, thanks to my big brother who co-owns AdFix Pro.  I was able to experience how they work and it was fun.  But they only tap me if they need extra hands on photoshoots.

Just this first week of May, Dindo, co-owner of AdFix Pro, asked me to be one of his wardrobe stylist assistants.  I was more than glad to join the bandwagon once again.  I was instantly excited about the project because they were able to do the costume design and I was tasked to scout materials and assist the models on the dress rehearsals and the event itself.  The said costumes are for Ipanema's Urban Jungle Runway Show.

Braving the streets of Divisoria alone, I was able to buy feathers and big beads for some of the costumes, though I bought the wrong tassel material.  Tsk.

Costume fitting was held at STEPS studios at Pasong Tamo Extension.  I arrived earlier than the entire team and little did I know that our models are ballet dancers!  After having them tried their costumes, we were invited to take sneak peek of their performance.

photos: apueblo

photos: apueblo

It was great!  Their movements were so fluid, you can definitely feel their passion on every move or step that they make.  Inspiring moment for me that's why I'm thinking of going back in dancing and study jazz dance.

The show was held last May 8th at Boni High Street's activity center, right in front of Krispy Kreme around 6PM but the dancer/models call time were 6AM, while the costume design team were called at 10AM.  We all expected to have a large backstage due to the number of talents, make up artists, hair stylists, manicurists, and wardrobe team.  But, no, we were put into this tiny tent, causing traffic from going in and out of the area due to the limited aisle space.  Plus, it rained, thus, it flooded.  Lol.  That was an added experience to us all.  Hair and make up started at 11AM and ended right before the show starts.  That's how long the preparation was for a 5-10 minute performance because that's how a show must be, prepared to its very detail.

This is the best fashion show I've ever been to.  Wonderful performance, great production, beautiful costumes..ugh..everything's great!

All photos are taken by me, APueblo.
